17 miles today. A very late 11am start after another night at Miss Janett’s. Mousetrap caught up right at Indian Grave Gap and we hiked together the rest of the day. We decided to go to the Greasy Creek Friendly instead of the Clyde Smith Shelter. It was a very good choice.
The lady here has a very disturbed neighbor who tried to serenade us with a lawn mower and funky siren symphony and a chainsaw concerto. He evidently doesn’t like hikers, the ignorant fool. We had a great chat with our hostess and almost went for one of her frozen pizzas but ate out of our food bags instead. We really needed to lighten them. It’s definitely one of the better hostels so far.
We’re getting set to hike on to Overmountain or Applehouse Shelter. It’s gonna be a long day tomorrow either way with Roan Mountain 3 miles into the day. We’ll see how it goes.
